This Cookie Policy explains what cookies are, which cookies we use on the mackro.co.uk website, and how you can control them. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
This Cookie Policy applies to the mackro.co.uk website only. The Mackro mobile app does not use cookies — it stores an authentication token securely on your device.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device when you visit it. They let the site remember things about your visit — such as whether you're logged in, what your preferences are, and what pages you've looked at.
Cookies are either:
- First-party (set by the site you're visiting) or third-party (set by another domain, often through embedded content)
- Session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent cookies (stored until they expire or you delete them)
- Essential (the site can't function without them) or non-essential (used for analytics, personalisation, or advertising)
Under UK law (specifically the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003, as amended), we must ask for your consent before setting non-essential cookies. We do this with a cookie banner the first time you visit the site.
What cookies we use
We use two categories of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, behavioural targeting cookies, or any cross-site tracking. We do not embed third-party content (Facebook pixels, Google Ads tags, etc.) that would set tracking cookies on your device.
Essential cookies
These are required for the website to function. They do not require your consent.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
mackro_session | Authenticates you when you sign in to the coach portal on the website | Mackro | Session (deleted when you close the browser) |
mackro_csrf | Prevents cross-site request forgery attacks on form submissions | Mackro | Session |
mackro_consent | Stores your cookie preferences so we don't ask again on every visit | Mackro | 12 months |
If you decline analytics cookies, we will still set the three essential cookies above. The website cannot work without them.
Analytics cookies (consent required)
We use PostHog to understand how the marketing site is used — which pages get traffic, where visitors come from, and where the conversion funnel breaks down. PostHog data is anonymised at the point of collection.
| Cookie name | Purpose | Set by | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
ph_*_posthog | Stores an anonymous device ID to deduplicate visits and follow conversion funnels | PostHog (first-party setup) | 12 months |
If you decline analytics cookies, we don't set this one. We may still see anonymous server-side request counts (which don't use cookies) for capacity planning.
We do not use Google Analytics. We do not use Meta Pixel. We do not use any cross-site advertising or retargeting tags.
How to control cookies
You can manage cookies in three ways:
1. The cookie banner. When you first visit mackro.co.uk we show a banner asking whether you accept analytics cookies. You can also reopen the preference panel any time by clicking "Cookie preferences" in the website footer.
2. Your browser settings. All major browsers let you block or delete cookies. The exact steps differ by browser — search "manage cookies in [your browser name]" for instructions. Note that blocking essential cookies will break parts of the website (you won't be able to sign in to the coach portal).
3. Per-cookie opt-out. Some third parties offer dedicated opt-out mechanisms. PostHog respects the Do Not Track browser signal — if you have DNT enabled in your browser, we won't load the PostHog cookie regardless of your banner choice.
What happens if you decline non-essential cookies
The website works exactly the same. You can read all the content, sign up for the trial, sign up for the mailing list, and access the privacy policy and terms.
The only thing that changes is that we don't get analytics data from your visit. This means we get a less complete picture of how the marketing site is performing, but it does not affect your experience.
Changes to this Cookie Policy
If we add a new cookie or change how an existing one works, we will update this policy and re-prompt you for consent if the change affects non-essential cookies. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
The latest version is always available at mackro.co.uk/cookies.
